CBA Bargaining Update: Details of new offer coming January

Following the CBA Bargaining Committee’s decision to suspend negotiations over lack of progress in early November, the employers have recently asked for a return to the bargaining table in January to discuss an amended offer.

The eight constituent unions, led by BCGEU and including HSA, have agreed to meet with HEABC to hear about the new offer. Those meetings will begin January 10, 2023. At this point, we do not have any details, and there is no guarantee that an amended offer will allow us to reach a tentative agreement, but that is the goal of the Committee

It's been a tough year of negotiations, and after more than ten months at the bargaining table the Committee has been deeply disappointed with the employer’s position to date. Of particular concern is the monetary offer which, outside of core wage increases, does not allow the CBA to keep up with other bargaining associations.

On December 14 and 15, HSA’s representatives on the Bargaining Committee met with stewards to provide updates on the situation, take questions, and discuss the potential for and impact of any job action.

We do not expect any further developments until talks resume January 10, and we will provide updates at that time.
